Black day for Chinese in Asian Under-21 Snooker

It was a 'black Monday' for the Chinese cueist in the Rewale Group Asian Under 21 Snooker Championship at the PYC (Hindu) Gymkhana hall.

 

Top seed Li Yuan was shocked in straight three frames by Yuttapop Pakoj of Thailand in a `Group `A` match. This was followed by Lv Chengwie  going down to third seed Sohail Vahedi of Iran in a closely fought encounter by 3-2 and Cao Yupeng went down fighting to second seed Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon of Thailand by  a similar margin.

 

In a contrasting match two out of the three Indian in action today saw  Manish Jain after taking  an early 2-nil lead was beaten ;by Ali Nasser Obaidli of Qatar. This is the second time in this championship Manish, was losing after taking a 2-nil lead.

 

The Delhi youngster Pushpinder, who had made a grand entry by shocking second seed Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon, lost second match in a row while tamely going down to Mhanmaa Nasser of Qatar in straight frames to bow out of the meet.. The only silver  to the Indians was provided in an inconsequential match by the wild card entrant and local  boy Aditya Deshpande who conquered Ryan Somara of Sri Lanka in straight sets.

 

The last Indian hope and junior national champion Shahbaz Ali Khan, goes to clash against the two top contenders from Group 'A' Yuttapop Pakpoj of Thailand, who has virtual ensured a birth for himself following his stunning straight frames victory over top seed Li Yuan today, and Li Yuan in his last fixture in the league stage of the match to be among the two to cueist to qualify from this group.
