Golden boy done it again. Alok wins Bronze; Team India also confirmed medal
in Snooker
Golden
boy has done it again. 25 years old Pankaj Advani successfully defended the
gold medal he won in 2006 Doha Asian Games, here today when he defeated Nay
Thway Oo of Myanmar 3 games to 2. After losing first game, Pankaj wins the
second game to level the match but went down 1-2 from where he recovered and
winning successive two games, he bags first gold medal for India and Cue
Sports in Asian Games 2010. Nay Thway Oo’s performance also remained
excellent as he made his presence in the final on his first appearance in
Asian Games. He defeated former World Champion Peter Gilchrist in the semi
final.
Alok Kumar also made India proud by confirming medal for India by reaching
into Semi Finals. He defeated two big names of Pool world i.e. Ricky Yang of
Indonesia in Quarter Final and Efren Reyes of Philippines in Last-16. Alok
now become the first Indian to win any medal for India in Pool category.
Later in the day he lost his Semi Final match and settled for Bronze.
In Ladies 8Ball Pool, Indira Gowda winning her first match advanced to
Pre-Quarter finals defeating her opponent FMN Hend Alnaser of Kuwait 5-3.
Though there was disappointment for Neeta Sanghvi as she lost her match 3-5
against Akimi Kajitani of Japan and out.
Finally late in the night, Team India comprises of Yasin Merchant, Aditya
Mehta and Brijesh Damani confirmed another medal for India defeating Team
Singapore 3-1 in Quarter Final match. Now they will meet Team Pakistan
tomorrow in Semi Final match.
