Silver lining for Team India in Snooker; Lilly into Quarters of 3-cushion
carom
The morning session started with India to take on Pakistan for entry into
finals. Last night India already assured medal; but Indian brigade do not
want to settle for Bronze and outplayed Pakistan in straight sets 3-0 to
meet China for Gold.
Later today in the final, Team India went down to China 1-3 and had to be a
content with Silver. However, Team India bettered from bronze medal in Doha
2006 to Silver. On the other hand, China dominated since start. Only Aditya
managed to defeat Liang Wenbo by 5 points only.
In 3-Cushion Carom, National Champion, Dharminder Lilly won his match
against Sulaiman Albarrak 40-16 and moved to Quarter Finals, where he has to
beat Joji Kai of Japan to confirm medal. However, the another player for
3-Cushion Carom from India Vijay Goel lost the first match and out.
There was disappointment in ladies camp; when Vidya Pillai & Chitra M. in
6Red Snooker (Individual); and Neena Praveen & Meenal Thakur in 9Ball Pool
lost their initial matches. Now only indira Gowda left as lone warrior as
she has to play her match for 8Ball Pool (Pre-Quarters) day after tomorrow.
