ONGCians made India Proud

Both the players from ONGC done their best and made India pride. Reigning world champion, Rupesh Shah and former Asian champion, Alok Kumar today defeated their Thai opponents in semi final matches to confirm Winner's trophy for India in 12th ONGC Asian Billiards championship 2013 being played in Indore Tennis Club, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.

 

In second Semi final match, Alok Kumar, who hails from Chandigarh (India) started with 61 points break in opening game and obtained initial lead of 1-Nil. But after that Praput Chaithanasukan (Thailand) won two back to back games on 59 and unfinished century breaks to gain 2-1 lead.

 

Before Praput could do further any damage, Alok got back on to the job and produced two breaks of 71 and 82 points and successfully countered Praput's lead. However, Praput once again returned with 92 points break to level the match 3-all but that was his only attempt as Alok gave an unfinished 100 points break in next game and went on in 8th game too to seal the match 5-3 and entered into final.

 

From the other half, Rupesh Shah entered into final by identical score but in different style. Rupesh down Nil-3 elevated his game to knockout another Thai player Thawat Sujaritthurakarn.

 

Thawat was on fire since opening game and produced back to back two breaks of 97 and 98 points to gain 2-Nil lead. In third game Rupesh got some playing shots and tried settling himself but Thawat bettered himself and scored 100-83 to increase the lead by 3-Nil.

 

Though Rupesh was down but the time the time he spent on table gave him a chance to settle down which resulted in game win in next to narrow the deficit by 1-3.

 

After that Rupesh did not turned back and produced breaks of 84, 97, 101 and 60 points in next four games to seal the match 5-3.

 

In 14th Asian Under 21 Snooker championship, Pakistan stepping in closer to title. In the quarter final match, Pakistan's Muhammad Majid Ali defeated Lu Ning of China 5-2 to meet another Chinese player Zhu Yinghui in semi finals. Zhu entered into semis after defeating his compatriot Zhou Yeulong in the decider frame 5-4.

 

However, Thailand has confirmed his entry into Final as both the Thailand players won their respective matches to enter into Semi final and will play against each other to enter into final.
