All Indians in knockout stage of Asian Championships

 

 

Indian cueists have succeeded to reach the single elimination stage of the ongoing Asian Billiards and Under-21 Snooker Championships at Colombo.

All the five Billiards players are now in the quarter finals of Asian Billiards 2016. Out of them the defending champion, Dhruv Sitwala, former world champion, Pankaj Advani and former Asian Champion, Sourav Kothari earned the direct place in quarter finals, whereas B. Bhaskar and Siddharth Parikh have won their respective matches a round before to join the same.

Bhaskar and Siddharth, both, met the tough challenge from Thailand and won deciders 4-3 to reach quarters. Bhaskar defeated Thawat Sujaritthurakarn, and Siddharth knocked out Suriya Suwannasinh.



In Junior Snooker category (U21), the Indian trio Ishpreet Chadha, Ashutosh Padhy and Nikhil Saigal reached the knockout stage. From there, Ishpreet and Ashutosh advanced to pre-quarters defeating Syed Shahabaldin of Iran 4-0 and Seeon Kim 4-1 respectively, but Nikhil lost 2-4 against Haris Tahir of Pakistan and exit from the competition.
