In the new Long Term Development Program
:: 2007-2010 (LTDP :: 2007-2010), BSFI President, Capt. P.V.K. Mohan
has laid special stress and greater emphasis to be laid on participation of female players
of the nation. Keeping into the performance of ladies in last year
at International events, BSFI has decided that female players would be
encouraged to participate and compete at various International
events. The federation has also requested Sports Authority of India
(SAI) for a foreign coach to impart specialized training to female
players of the country to hone their skills particularly in Pool.
In addition to that, Federation has also
taken initiatives on the theme “Catch’em
young" at the age of 12 on a
suggestion of Billiards Maestro, Geet Sethi, to popularize the game
within in the country.
in this endeavor BSFI is holding two
residential coaching camps of 15 days each at Bangalore from 1st
May and 16th May respectively which is being coached by BSFI Coaches
Mr. Manoj Kothari (West Bengal), Mr. S. Jairaj (Karnataka), and Mr.
Devendra Joshi (Mumbai). This is for the first time in the the
history of Cue Sports India that a residential camp has been
started.
In order to popularize the game and that
it should reach the commoner the BSFI has decided to hold the
National Championship and other major tournaments in the mofussils.
One such step is to hold the National Championship next year in Jharkhand and other
upcoming centers like Meghalaya, Ranchi, Lucknow and other to
