Hi,

As every year the Wels Snooker club is arranging the International Austrian Snooker Open 2008 which will be held from 23rd to 26th of October 2008 in Wels/Austria.

Different to earlier years is the date of holding, as it will be in autumn ... but don't mind we've checked the data with the WSA and at that time no maintour and or qualification tournament is being planed.

Different to last year is that we will play on !! 24 tables !! and further more the quantity of spectators should exceed 7.000 on 4 days !!

Tournament modus:

- Round Robin system
- 16 groups of 8 players each
- 2 frames during group-phase against each player
- Knock out system
- best player of each group is seeded in top 32
- 2nd and 3rd player of each group will be seeded in top 48
- best of 5 frames till quarterfinal
- best of 9 in semifinal
- best of 11 in final

Prize money:

- 30.000.- Euros
- highest break 1.000.- Euros , max.break 1.500.- Euros
- top 16 players get money

Besides:

- Players party
- Poker tournament with expected 500 players
- Opening ceremony of IBSF World Mens/Ladies Snooker & Masters Championships which will be held from 27 October to 08 November 2008 in Wels/Austria
- etc.
