Chief stepping down after imposed the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)
Sports Policy joined by his dedicated workers of PBSA team including
Secretary Aspi Mavalwala and Treasurer Wahid Tawawala, Asghar Valika
formally announced his stepping down from the post at a crowded
press conference at Karachi Club Hall here after the official of
Sports Ministry disaffiliated the membership of PBSA by a stroke of
pen.
"From nowhere, I with devoted workers of PBSA
put Pakistan at par with top snooker playing nations in the world,"
he recalled. Messrs Tawawala and Aspi Mawawala also stepped down
from their respective position.
He
has requested for re-affiliation with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB),
President PBSA Valika said. Elections of PBSA will take place on
September 15.
"The sudden decision of the PSB to
disaffiliate the PBSA earlier this month has jeopardized Pakistan's
participation in the upcoming IBSF World Snooker Championship to be
held in Austria in October. We hope that the PSB would act swiftly
to restore the affiliation of PBSA to ensure participation of
Pakistan's cueists in the global event," he observed.
Asghar Valika, without criticizing PSB
for taking the action against the PBSA, maintained that the Senate
Sub-Committee on Sports should have provided his Association the
chance to explain their point of view before recommending the
disaffiliation.
"We had clarified a number of times to the
concerned authorities that due to 'special circumstances' it was not
possible for us to follow all the clauses of the national sports
policy at once. But we never resisted the sports policy. We had just
desired some time," he added. "We had
been following the guidelines from the government and we were
working in accordance with our constitution. We had told them that
the PBSA is a body being run on democratic lines with the fresh
elections due to take place in September".
He said media is fully aware which PBSA has achieved during the past
twenty years. "Winning the world and Asian
titles and gold and two bronze medals in 1998 Bangkok Asian Games
are our major achievements in sports," Valika Explain.

following the guideline from the Government and we are working in
accordance of constitution.
"it was not possible to hold elections for
PBSA under the deadline of 20th August because of the five nation
