Pakistan
participation is dicey in World Snooker 2008
Mega Snooker event to be held in
Austria in October, but Pakistan team participation is still dicey
after PSB Pakistan Sports Board not yet re-annexed after the
Pakistan Billiards & snooker association (PBSA) elections held on 15
September, where former Chief of PBSA, Mr. Valika stepped down.
Newly elected President of PBSA, Mr.
Aalamgir Shaikh with talking to the Cue Sports India Special
Correspondent said Pakistan Sports Board has not yet re-affiliated PBSA
and still not sure about Pakistan team's participation in IBSF World
Snooker coming in October at Austria. This will be the first time in
22 years when Pakistan team is not appearing in the mega world
snooker championship.
I want to help for Pakistan Sports Board and Federal Sports Ministry
to re-affiliate PBSA and release funds for sending the team for
World Snooker, the President PBSA said.
Mr. Alamgir stated, Ii also written a
reminder later and send the PSB and Sports Ministry to take up the
case on priority and the delay will cause problems in getting visa,
training camps, and other relevant preparatory issues for WSC
Participation.
PBSA will now decide for sending their
team for World Snooker in a meeting called on October 6, 2008 after
Eid-ul-fitr (The muslim feast day).
