A. Kamala Chandra Babu passed away

It is sad to inform that former Billiards player A.KAMALA CHANDRA BABU who won the Billiards National Billiards (Ladies) title in the year 1991 and 1995 has passed away on the night of Independence day i.e. 15th August. She was ailing for some time and was bed ridden. Her last rights will be performed on Sunday.

 

Born on 29 December 1929 in Chittoor District, A. Kamala Chandrababu was multi-talented woman. She was associated into Drama, All India Radio, Play-back dubbing, Sports and into uplifting the society.

 

She enacted “ALEXANDER” Telugu Drama in the lead role along with Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Amateur Association sponsored by State of Rajasthan & Gujarat on Cultural exchange. She also played lead roles in dramas by the side of stalwarts of those days’ greats like Sri. Bellari Raghava, Sri. Eelapata Raghuramaiah etc.

 

She was also passionate about cuesports. She started playing the game of Billiards & Snooker at the Chennapuri Andhra Maha Sabha in the year 1954. Since then played in various open tournaments in Billiards & Snooker as the only woman player at that time, competing with men at Chennai, Vijayawada and Bangalore. She had the unique opportunity of playing exhibition matches at Bangalore & Mysore with the then World Billiards Champion ‘BOB MARSHALL’. She won the ladies National Billiards titles in the year 1991 & 1995 representing Tamil Nadu State.

 

Her contribution in excelling ladies participation in cue sports will always be remembered.

 

Cue Sports India condoles on her sad demise and prays to almighty to rest his soul in peace.
