Aditya becomes
first Indian to score 147 on foreign land
Aditya Mehta
becomes the first Indian to score maximum 147 on a foreign land
(more so in Professional Circuit). Before this, two more official
147 have been made by Indians but both in India only. One by
Billiards supremo, Geet Sethi, (in 1987 Guntur Nationals) and
another by Aditya himself in National Selection Camp at Bangalore in
2013.
The previous best by an Indian on foreign land was from Manan
Chandra, who made 146 at IBSF World Championship in 2004 at Holland.
On Friday, The
current world number 49, Aditya, made this official maximum break in
the third frame of his last 32 match against Stephen Maguire at the
Arcaden Paul Hunter Classic in Germany (an European Tour event).
"It's an amazing feeling," said Aditya
to worldsnooker.com. "The balls opened up and
I knew it was an opportunity by the time I was on 32. I've only made
one 147 in practice and one in a match in India. I hoped one day I
would be lucky enough to make one in a pro event and today it
happened out of the blue."
Aditya earns £1,500 from the rolling 147 prize pot for European Tour
events, as long as the break is not equaled.
The break was refereed by local German official Luise Kraatz,
working at her first professional event and officiating only her
third match in total.
However, the match result went in favour of Maguire who won 4-2.
