Pankaj to play
final of Asian Snooker
Pankaj Advani of
India has reached in the final of 31st Asian Snooker Championship
being played at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he will meet player
from Pakistan, Hamza Akbar.
Today Pankaj played quarter-final against his compatriot Kamal
Chawla and defeated 5-2 enter in the semis. The match was quite
interesting where Pankaj scored a massive break of 135 points to
gain 3-0 lead and Kamal replied with 136 in 6th frame to narrow down
to 2-4. However, in the next frame, Pankaj did not allow Chawla to
do much and cleared with 78-04 to win the match 5-2.
In Semis, Pankaj blanked Zhang Yong of China to step in the final.
He also scored a break of 115 in the fifth frame.
The other finalist Hamza Akbar's journey so far was interesting. He
met two of his compatrior in the knockout rounds. First he defeated
former World Champion Muhammed Asif by winning the decider frame 4-3
in the Last 32 stage and later he knocked out Shahram Changezi in
the quarter-final 5-1.
In semi he outclassed Mohd. Reza of Malaysia 6-2 to meet Indian star
Pankaj Advani
Another Indian player Varun Madan had also reached the quarter
finals but lost to Mohd. Reza 1-5.
