Hyderabad: 12.12.2007 - The top two cueists, Geet Sethi and Pankaj Advani continued their exploits unhindered even as the last 16 stage was reached in the Senior billiards section of the 2007 National billiards & snooker championship here on Tuesday evening at the billiards gymnasium at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Indoor Stadium. Geet Sethi beat Siddharth Parikh on the trot while Pankaj thrashed Raghav Singh by 583-268 and by 812-259 points respectively.

But it was the Kolkata based Eastern Railwayman, Mohammad Aseem who caused a flutter when he downed Devendra Joshi the former champion from PSPB by 410-254 points. While Geet had abreak of 169 and Pankaj a break of 172 during their victories, Aseem was very consistent with his 30's and 40's and only had a break of 66 as his best but even this seemed to be enough to tie down Joshi who appeared to be off colour on this day.

Dhruv Sitwala Joshi's teammate from PSPB had a break of 143 on way to a fine 504-235 points victory over Aditya Mehta the Maharashtra champion. Evenso Joshi made the last 16 with a win over young Gujarat player, Raunaq Vajirani by 701-189 points with a notable break of 99. Another PSPB player , SAurav Kothari also made the grade with a 594-188 points victory over Veteran Karnatka player, Arvind Savur who despite the loss also qualified for the knock-out stage with a win over Nishadh by 375-275 in a low scoring match.
