Fancied Mahesh Jagdale crashed out in dramatic fashion in the second round of the qualifiers in the Khar Gymkhana-Shyam Shroff Memorial Open Invitation Snooker Tournament at the Khar Gymkhana on Thursday. On an exciting day of close contests, Jagdale made a premature exit when he failed to capitalise on the 1-0 advantage after snatching the opening frame in the best-of-five frames encounter, as Rahul Beeralia returned to form in the nick of time to win the next three frames and the tie 47-62, 74-39, 71-47, 47-31.
The father and son duo of Arun and Aditya Agrawal enjoyed a rewarding following contrasting wins. In a tight match between quality cueists, Aditya dropped the third frame before overcoming formidable Satbir Narula 62-29, 66-9, 56-62, 67-34, while Arun raced to a 68-36, 61-18, 67-42 win to end the campaign of Khar Gymkhana marker Ashok More.
Fancied Chadhresh Shah of PJ Hindu Gymkhana also was stretched before he beat C. Rahul 67-9, 59-23, 33-74, 45-36. In contrast, Marzdi Kalyaniwala of Bombay Gymkhana crushed Ashish Pathak 56-30, 66-18, 72-45. Hyderabad's Lucky Vatnani also advanced with a fluent 60-5, 57-14, 68-58 win over anonymous D. Dharmesh that included a break of 53 in the opening frame.
