Nikhil - Rishabh in Senior Snooker final
 

Mumbai:  Experienced Nikhil Ootam from CCI and last year’s junior national champion Rishab Pandya, both having beaten  Hasan Badami, have made the title round in the senior snooker 4-player league of the Malabar Hill Club-Maharashtra State billiards/snooker selection tournament, hosted by Malabar Hill Club here on Friday.

Nikhil was up 3-0 against Hasan before the Islam Gymkhana youngster could make his presence felt by claiming the fourth and that was the only time when he was in the picture as  Nikhil  did not waste any further time to clinch the best-of-seven-frame tie 57-30, 75-37, 71-63, 15-62, 58-6. While Rishab hardly gave any leeway to Hasan before beating him 59-34, 71-31, 48-39, 62-49.

Amit Saboo, the top seed,  who made the league phase at the expense of Bhushan Shahade (Amit beat Bhushan 49-67, 20-62, 64-13, 61-32, 63-26, 48-18  in the quarterfinals), made himself unavailable for some personal reasons.  Thus rendering the event as  a three-player league.

Otter Club’s Samuel Selven had a tough time against Islam Gymkhana’s Kazaan Talib before he advanced into the last eight  in the senior billiards event with a 152-112, 110-150, 152-99 win.
