Alok, Brijesh in race with Pankaj & Aditya for TOP SPOT

 

At the end of the afternoon session of play of the fourth day of  2nd National Selection Tournament, for the 2010 Asian Games, being played here at the Clube Tennis de Gasper Dias, Miramar,Goa, Alok Kumar and Brijesh Damani led the league table with five wins each in seven matches played. Closed to their heels running for the top spot are Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta with 4 wins each in six matches played.

 

The Salient feature of todays play was two back to back century breaks each by Alok Kumar and Kamal Chawla in their fiercely fought encounter in which Kumar prevailed over Chawla by four frames to three.

 

By virtue of two commendable wins by Brijesh Damani , no 8 ranked in the first camp, against Alok Kumar and Shahbaaz Khan , saw him advancing to remain in contention for the top spot.

 

Today while top seed Pankaj Advani posted a good win against Manan Chandra by four frames to two , Aditya Mehta  blanked Shahbaaz Khan by four frames to nil.

 

Later in the evening Alok Kumar, the only probable for Asian Games for all the three events of Billiards, Snooker and Pool posted another important win against Manan Chandra by 4-2 with a break of 100 in the opening frame and kept his hope alive for the top position in the league table.
