Damani wins the 2nd Snooker Selection, Advani leads overall ranking

In an electrifying drama which took place in the final session of the Snooker Selection Tournament being played here at The Clube Tennis De Gasper Dias, Miramar, Brijesh Damani emerged as the winner as two other contenders for the topspot Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta faltered against Yasin Merchant and Manan Chandra respectively

Damani, who was only hoping for the fourth position after the end of the last session of play yesterday ,did his job well by defeating Kamal Chawla 4-3.

It was however his spurring partner Sourav Kothari’s win against Alok Kumar that confirmed Damani of the third position.

Damani’s fate for the top spot now hanged on the matches between Advani-Merchant and Aditya – Manan. One could see Damani who was sitting in the gallery with fingers crossed heaving a deep sigh of relief as Aditya went down tamely to Manan Chandra by 1-4 and Pankaj lost the battle to Merchant by an identical margin.
