Divesh Gangwani of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana rallied from the brink of defeat to storm into the main draw, in the NSCI-BoI All India 9-Ball Open Pool tournament.

Gangwani, who had lost to former senior state billiards champion Rishabh Thakkar of Khar Gymkhana in the second round, made amends with a brilliant recovery in the double elimination round to qualify from Group I along with Thakkar.

Gangwani won four back-to-back ties on a gruelling route and sealed his place in the elite draw with a thrilling 5-4 win over Poras Shah of Matunga Gymkhana after trailing all along.

Sumit Devgan and Joy Saha of Lions Sports Club, Mulund, and Arun Kumar of Thane also advanced to main draw.
