Abhishek Soparkar of Thane snatched a thrilling 5-4 win to storm into the main draw, in the NSCI All India 9-Ball Open Pool tournament

Soparkar, who enjoyed a 4-2 lead, endured a late challenge from Arun Madhu of Tamil Nadu who forced the decider in the race-to-five racks Group M tie. Madhu kept his hopes alive in the double elimination round where he faces Vishnu Kedia and the winner will join Soparkar in the elite draw.

Meherzad Bhagwagar also escaped to a 5-4 win over Satbir Narula of CCI to enter the main draw from Group N.
