AND ELVY-147 ALSO STARTED WITH WINS
Cue Magician
shown their magical skills and turned the entire match in their favour. They
were 2 frames down and won next three frames in a row to register 3-2 in the
inaugural Bengal Premier League at Bengal Rowing Club, Kolkata.
Black Panthers, led by former World No.3 Manan Chandra, played in full control
and won first two games convincingly to take 2-0 lead with first frame win 94-27
and in second game of Billiards-100-Up 102-20.
But after that, the pair of Sourav Kothari and Kingshuk Saha curtailed Manan
Chandra and Mudit Poddar and snatched the frame 70-38 to get back into the game.
Even after that Sourav Kothari brushed aside Rohit Malhotra in fourth 6Reds
frame crafting a well-controlled break of 36 points to set decider, where former
State champion, Mohd. Shoaib Khan posted a match winning 54 points break to
close the proceedings 3-2.
Earlier in the morning session, Satrangi Squad and The Rockets started their
campaign on winning node.
Satrangi
Squad’s Brijesh Damani registered an easy win (59-07) over Kamal Chawla of Pappu
Penguin and in next game former State champion, Aditya Goenka defeated versatile
player Nilangshu Haldar 100-55 in Billiards.
The doubles frame tough but the pair of Brijesh Damani and Shreevardhan Poddar
were in good control and won 73-42 against Kamal Chawla / Sumit Jhunjhunwala.
Though Satrangi Squad lost the next two games but won the match 3-2.
The Rockets
also did well and won their first match with an identical score 3-2 against City
Knights. Their marquee player Sundeep Gulati won the first frame 65-26 against
Abdul Miraz but Shakeel Ahmed lost in billiards 42-100 against Dhvaj Haria.
However, The Rockets struck back strongly and won next two games to secure the
match.
Later in the evening, Elvy-147 fought hard and won 3-2 against Satrangi Squad.
Their
marquee player, Shahbaaz Khan dominated the first frame against Rahul Berlia
74-08 and after that Manish Jain conquered next game of billiards to win it
101-23 against Aditya Goenka.
However, the pair of Shahbaaz Khan and Suniti Damani gave tough fight but
Brijesh Damani and Shreevardhan Poddar won the doubles frame 64-36.
Later, Dheerendra Baid was too good against Rohit Rajghariya and defeated him
47-27 in 6Reds to secure the match.
