Rakshit wins the first leg of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand 6Reds

 

 

Leg 2 of the 2nd Uttarakhand State Ranking 6-Red Snooker Championship 2016 started on July 2, 2016, at 147 Snooker Academy, 2nd Floor, Om Tower, GMS Road, Dehradun.

There were total 36 entries from all over the State. It was an evenly contested championship wherein several seeded players and title contenders lost in the first or the second round, noteworthy being Sahil Dora (Defending Champion and the Top seed here) and Dikshant Negi (Last year's 15 Red State Champion) who both even failed to reach the TOP 8 stage to qualify for the main league, beaten by Nivesh Hurla and Lakshay Sudi respectively.

Kamal Bisht of Dehradun showed amazing potting and safety skills all throughout the championship. He beat Angad Ghai in Quarter Finals, Sachin Tamta in Semi Finals, and Saksham Gairola in the Finals to win Leg 2.

The following are the TOP 8 players who qualified for the main league.

The FINAL LEAGUE was fought out between the Top 8 players of Leg 1 Haldwani and the Top 8 players of Leg 2 Dehradun.

It was a keenly contested league with all the players showing exemplary Snooker potting and safety skills.

The semi-final line-up was
Kamal Bisht vs Saksham Gairola
Jatin Rawat vs Piyush Kesarwani

Kamal Bisht overcame Saksham Gairola quite easily 4-1.
Jatin Rawat overcame Piyush Kesarwani easily as well 4-2


In the Final, both the players started cautiously with the first two frames being shared. In the third frame, Kamal Bisht played superbly and hit a break of 24. With 2 reds left on the table, Jatin Rawat came back strongly clearing the table with a break of 37 and winning the frame leading 2-1. In the fourth frame, again with Kamal Bisht leading, Jatin Rawat cleared the table potting the color balls with a break of 27. The next two frames were also easily won by Jatin Rawat thereby winning the best of 9 Final with a score of 5-1 and thus pocketing the Title.

Sh. Suryakant Dhasmana, Sr. Vice President, Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee, graced the occasion with his presence. He was greeted upon by Sh. G.S. Puri, President, DBBSA. He presented the Trophies to the Winners.
