Shrikrishna in title clash for Sub-Junior Billiards

Sub-Junior Billiards champion S Shrikrishna has reached in the
final to defend his defend his title and will will face Mumbai
cueist Sparsh Pherwani in attempt to retain the same for next
year.
In the ongoing National Billiards and Snooker Championship at
PYC Hindu Gymkhana, top seed Shrikrishna was unstoppable and
crushed his opponents’ en route to the final. In the
pre-quarterfinals, he scored 105-point break while defeating
Rajasthan’s Owais Kaman 382-157 and then scored 95 and
99-point breaks in quarters against Rayaan Razmi of
Maharashtra. The score read 406-167 in Shrikrishna’s favour.
Maharashtra’s Kreishh Gurbaxani who had defeated K Vibhas of
Telangana 289-133 in quarters, was expected to give a good
fight to Shrikrishna. However, he proved no match as the Tamil
Nadu player cruised into final with 406-203. His supremacy
over the sport can be judged from the score as he registered
51, 56, 58, 67-point breaks and sealed the victory with
107-point break, with just three minutes remaining to the
buzzer.
At the adjacent table, Maharashtra’s Sparsh Pherwani scored
274-155 win over Digvijay Kadian of Haryana. The Mumbai lad
was given walkover in the pre-quarterfinals and then he
registered 199-113 win over Mehul Saini of Haryana.
Shrikrishna and Sparsh have faced each other twice and in both
encounters, the Tamil Nadu player has proved supreme. In the
last tussle, he had beaten Sparsh in the national final and
expected to repeat the performance.
However, Shrikrishna doesn’t believe in
past records.
"It
all depends on how you play on that particular day"
he said.
Meanwhile, in junior billiards, Maharashtra’s Taaha Khan,
Akshay Gogri, Harmehr Mago and Gujarat’s Dinesh Bajaj have
qualified for the main draw.
