Khar Gym, ECC in
the final of Bombay Gym Premier League
Khar Gymkhana
Challengers (KGC) and Elphinstone Cricket Club (ECC) Baize Blasters
registered contrasting wins to set up a title clash in the Bombay
Gymkhana Premier League Billiards and Snooker tournament.
Where KGC had no big hurdle in
entering final routing Chembur Gymkhana Gladiators 3-1, ECC Baize
Blasters rallied from 0-2 to outplay Matunga Gymkhana 3-2 in a
thrilling semi-final.
After V. 'Raja' Subramanian and veteran
Arun Agrawal gave MG a commanding 2-0 lead, ECC staged a fantastic
recovery to close the proceeding 3-2. During the play, ECC's Mahesh
Jagdale and Sunil Jain reduced the margin by winning the third
doubles tie over Devendra Joshi and Ankit Thakkar where MG paid the
price after Joshi missed a simple green pot with a clearance in
sight. Siddharth Shah pulled a vital upset win over Subramanian in
the fourth 6-Red snooker tie to force the decider where Jagdale
stunned Joshi in second 6-Red snooker tie on the blue following a
brilliant brown pot.
