India’s top cueist
Aditya Mehta has taken a break and resigned from the WSA
Professional Tour, but does intend to return next season.
Aditya, who reportedly, suffered from a neck
injury in recent months has decided to take time away from the sport
to rest the injury and regain fitness.
Aditya is currently in line for a fresh two-year tour card as one of
the eight leading players on the European Tour Order of Merit who
finish the season outside the top 64 of the main world ranking list.
Aditya is now fifth on that list of eight players and he has stated
his intention to return next season assuming he receives a tour
card.
Aditya reached the final of the inaugural Indian Open world ranking
event in New Delhi in 2013, beating the likes of Mark Williams and
Stephen Maguire before being denied the title by Ding Junhui. His
other career highlights include winning a gold medal at the World
Games in Colombia in 2013 and becoming the first Indian to make an
official 147 at the 2014 Paul Hunter Classic.
Later
today on report of worldsnooker.com, Aditya tweeted "Determined
to be back soon."
