BRC - GLOSTER National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2015 got off to a flying start



BRC - GLOSTER National Billiards and Snooker Championships started today here at Bengal Rowing Club in Kolkata, West Bengal.

BRC's president and title sponsor, Mr. Hemant Bangar, graced the opening ceremony. Mr. Pradeep Saraogi, President (WBBA); former BSFI President Mr. P.N. Roy and Mr. Piyush Kumar Bhagat also joined him on dias.

West Bengal State snooker champion, Mr. Manish Jain, took oath of
'fair play and spirit of sportsmanship' on behalf of all the participants of nationals.

Mr. Saraogi acknowledged the hard work put in by West Bengal committee and the club members for organizing this championship. He also thanked all the sponsors for their support to the championship.

Mr. Bangar, later, announced the national championship open.

Raghav Agarwal of Gujarat in action

The day one of the championships saw some exciting matches. In sub-junior billiards category P. Rohit Yadav of Assam won the closely contested match (184-182) against his opponent Md. Hussain of Madhya Pradesh . The whole match swung like a pendulum and at no stage, any of them gained lead more than 10 points. In the last also Md. Hussain could have won but time was little faster than him and Yadav declared winner by 2 points.

Raghav Agarwal of Gujarat started on a good node and scored a break of 37 points routing Rajat Sharma of Haryana 211-68. Raghav was in good touch and played in flow to knockout Rajat.

The West Bengal players also did well on opening day as Dhirendra Baid and Md. Shoaib registered good win in round 1. Dhirendra beat Sumair of Andhra Pradesh 199-76; Shoaib knocked out Krishna P. Naik of Orissa 163-114.
