in action
Rohan Sahni, Nikhil Saigal of Maharashtra, Anubhav Shukla (UP), Md.
Hussain Khan (MP) and Avinash Kumar (DL) succeed to win their qualifying
matches to join main round players of Junior Snooker category of the
BRC-GLOSTER National Billiards & Snooker Championship. The matches will
start tomorrow morning.
Where Nikhil and Avinash won their respective matches in straight set of
frames 3-0, the other three spent time and won 3-1. Rohan Sahni got tough
fight from Arjun Mehta of Karnataka. Both the players scored good points
but it was Arjun who narrowly pulled the first frame but after that Rohan
made a good comeback and did not give any loose string and won next two
frames to gain 2-1 lead.
In fourth frame, Rohan appeared comfortable with a lead of nearly 35
points, but Arjun declined and recovered well and was on verge to set a
decider. However, he could not keep up that pace and was unlucky to pot
blue. He had another chance to pot pink and come at par but another
failure allowed Rohan to do the justice and winning the match.
Anubhav Shukla also controlled the match despite losing first frame. He
concentrated well to resist Rishabh Jain of Delhi and won 3-1 to qualify
for main round.
